The Umpires

Thanks for visiting the home page of Suffolk County's largest organization of umpires. Western Suffolk services adult and youth leagues in the spring, summer and fall. We have 140 members who umpire high school baseball in Suffolk County west of Route 112. If you'd like to join our association, e-mail us your name and address or contact clinician Joe Grady or 728-4455. The 2005 clinic has ended.

Thanks for all your help Memorial Day weekend ... Our annual dinner is June 7, celebrating 50 years of Western Suffolok at The Water Mill. Please dress accordingly ... Speedy recovery wishes go out to Willie Diaz, who was struck in the face with a bat while working Memorial Day weekend. He's home recovering from surgery ... Ed Hayes handles the test. Contact him with any and all questions ... Please check in with Bob Dename or Dan Hughes, who will take attendance at the 2005 meetings ... Public school game fees in 2005 are: Varsity (100); JV/JV-9 (80); JH (63.50) ... If anyone needs any apparel of supplies, please contact Chuck DeCarbo of The Sports Loft ... Catholic league correspondence goes to Jim Guise. He will be using Arbiter in 2005. Catholic game fees in 2005 are: Varsity (101), JV (81), JH (72) ... As per our bylaws, active members must attend five of the seven meetings. The interpretation, test and election meetings are mandatory ... If you declare inactive or independent status, you still must attend the interpretation and take the test. Independent status means you won't work school ball, but can work outside assignments. Your deadline to declare inactive, independent or medical status is Jan. 15 and it must be in writing to President Joe Grady.

Dues

No matter what status you declare, you must pay dues ($80) to secretary/treasurer Ira Levine, Box 473, Medford, 11763. Dues paid after May 17 are $140.
