The following is a listing of rules for leagues that Western Suffolk services in the spring/summer. If you are unsure about a rule, please check with your partner. Universal rules in all leagues: if you see lightning, terminate the game. Players must either slide or avoid contact. NJBL (All levels) Federation rules, except for 12s, with the following amendments: no requirement for ages 13-and-older to wear one-piece catcher's mask ... 2 1/2-hour time limit for ages 13-18. No inning starts after the time limit ... Time limit for 12s is 2 (two) hours ... No metal spikes in the 12s ... Mercy rule for 12s is 12 runs after four innings ... Mercy rule for 13-18 is 10 runs after five innings ... There is no DH. All levels allow for two Extra Hitters (EH) ... Speed up rule in all levels is for catchers and only with two outs, but is not mandatory ... Teams may start and end the game with eight players ... Seven innings, $65 fee (16-18); $65 (15-16); $60 (13-14); $55 (12), six innings. NJBL PAL (All levels) Federation rules, with the following amendments: no requirement for ages 13-and-older to wear one-piece catcher's mask. It will be phased in over the 2003 season ... 10-run mercy rule after four innings ... No weekday inning starts after 8 p.m. for a 6 p.m. start or two hours after starting time ... Seven innings, $65 fee (16-18); $65(15-16); $60 (13-14); $55 (12); $50 (10-11); $60 (9) ... PAL Stan Musial Major League rules ... Federation slide rule ... Batters may single-ear flap helmets ... Catchers must wear skull caps ... 15-run mercy rule after three innings; 10-runs after five innings ... Teams may bat as many players as they want in the original lineup ... Teams may N.O.T. play with less than nine players at the start or anytime during the game ... Speed-up rule for pitcher/catcher only before the next thrown pitch ... Curfew for noon DHs at Birchwood on Sundays is no inning after 4:30 p.m. This is only in effect when there is also a 5 p.m. DH ... Seven innings, $70 fee. Nine innings, $90 fee. Stan Musial Triple Crown Rules vary per age division ... We service 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18. Fees are $45 for 10-12; $48 for 13-15; $53 for 16-18 ... Time limits on all preliminary games ...
