                General Info

·          Joe Grady went over some plays and interpretations.

        - On the JV9 level, only DH can be used - NO EH

        - If a team pinch runs for the DH, he is out of the lineup one time and can return as the DH later in the game.

        - If lightning occurs 15 minutes before the scheduled game time, the game is not to be played under any circumstances during the season.

        - As a courtesy, the plate umpire will ask on check swings to the base umpire.

C.            New Business

                Outside Assignments

·          Chuck spoke on the number of teams WS will service for the summer. Musial will have 48 teams; NJBL will have a large increase of teams to service. There will be a decrease in the total teams in the PAL.

·          Update your availability on the Arbiter. You can block out a certain block of time on a specific date. No block on a specific date, means open all day.

·          Schedules will be posted on Arbiter in probably 3 week time blocks, to minimize changes to our assignment schedules. This is due to leagues making changes and filling rain outs.

        Ratings

·          Fred spoke with Jack Sexton @ Section and went over low ratings. He said that any ratings that had any ejection involved were closely reviewed by the Section. He reminded members to send him a letter, if you had a problem at a game. BE specific with facts, NO personal comments or viewpoints.

                Secretary Announcements

·          Ira announced that members should pay ($70) their 2005 membership dues by May 30 without incurring a penalty. The 2004 candidates have till 5/30 to make payment. Reminder, your membership dues has nothing to do with Recreation baseball or ECUA membership. There is a separate fee for this and goes to CHUCK or TONY.

·          Responses for dinner should be mailed or emailed to Jim Guise by June 1.  Give the Sportsmanship Ballots to Eric Reistetter and Dinner responses to Jim. NOT Ira.

·          If you are planning to attend the dinner on June 8, and do a summer game before the dinner, please do not wear your UMPIRE UNIFORM to the dinner. Please dress appropriately, the dinner is casual attire.

·          All changes of address or phone #’s should go to Ira, so they are entered in the Section Directory correctly.
