Meeting Minutes

January 26, 2005

 

 

Opening:               

                The regular meeting of the WSBUA was called to order at 7:55 pm by Joe Grady.

                Moment of Silence

A.            Approval of Minutes/Treasurers Report

                Financial report accepted as presented

                Minutes accepted as printed

 

B.            Open Issues

                General Info

·          Joe Grady mentioned that the biggest change to this years rules, will be the changes to the balk rule.

        - This years Mechanics clinic will be @ Lindy JHS, 2/12 beginning @ 11am.

        - Alternate interpretation meetings are: Nassau 3/3 @ Salk JHS 7:30 and Eastern 3/9 @ Polish Hall 7:30.

        - The test review mtg. will be on: March 1 @ Hibernian Hall 7pm

       

C.            New Business

                Outside Assignments

·          Chuck asked that if you plan not working this summer, please let him know. This is for the purpose of removing names from the Arbiter program.

·          Tony mentioned that game fees will increase across the board by $5. He also mentioned that you do not receive Double forfeit fees, you get paid for only one game. Try to collect your fee on the field, if possible from the forfeiting team.

·          Jim spoke about Catholic School assignments and reminded members to close dates with Section when your assignments are received.

       

        Ethics

·          Eric spoke on a case that came before his committee and fines were levied in this case.

 

        Section Assignments

·          Ed mentioned that availabilities are due and if you need to close dates after it has been sent in, please fax or mail to Margaret. Calling these in is not accepted by the Section.

 

                Raffle and State Mtg.

·Bill Coppola mentioned that we again will be having the April evening lottery raffle; tickets are $5 each and help to defer the cost of the       Annual dinner.

·He also gave a report on the State mtg. in Oct. Prime notations were the coordination of uniform and the presentation given by Ira.

 

                Secretary Announcements

·          Ira verified with members of Varsity and JV, their partners for this year. He also asked that the members check the labels on their case books to verify that all the info is correct. Please make any updates with him. All changes of address or phone #’s should go to Ira, so they are entered in the Section Directory correctly.

·          He reminded members to check with Bob or Dan, if they have a question if they need to attend the Mechanics clinic.

·          Ira reminded members that this year’s dues are $80 and can be paid beginning @ the April 7 mtg. and must be paid by 5/17 without penalty. He mentioned that this year our dinner will be held @ the Watermill in Smithtown on June 7.

·          Any updates or info can be viewed @ the website: www.thesportsloft.com and click on the Officiating Boards link.

·          Ira spoke on an issue that came up @ the dinner and reminded members that it is important that we present a professional attitude and be supportive of all our members.

 

D.            Agenda for Next Meeting

                The next mtg. will be Tuesday - March 8 @ OBJ 7:30pm
